His Holiness Pope Tawadros II


Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark in Egypt and all the Lands of the Diaspora, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, was born on November 4, 1952, in Mansoura, Dakahlia Governorate. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1975 and was awarded an honorary Doctorate from Beni Suef University in 2015 for promoting social peace. On August 20, 1986, he entered monastic life in the desert Monastery of Saint Bishoy in Wadi El-Natrun. He was ordained under the title Father Theodore of St. Bishoy on July 31, 1988. Pope Tawadros II was enthroned as Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church on November 18, 2012.
