His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Muhammad Hussein


His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Muhammad Hussein has been the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories since June 22, 2006. He earned a Master’s degree in Contemporary Islamic Studies from Al-Quds University (AQU). Since 1982, he has been a teacher and preacher at Al-Aqsa Mosque, and he also managed the affairs of the mosque from 1986 to 2006. Between 1987 and 1990, he was a member of the Islamic Awqaf Council in the West Bank. He is the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Fatwa in Palestine and has been one of its members since its inception, with the establishment of the Palestinian National Authority. He also serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Council for the College of the Holy Quran and Islamic Studies.

In addition to being the Founder of the Muslim Scholars and Olama in Palestine, Sheikh Hussein is a member of several prominent bodies and institutions. He is a member of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, the Board of Trustees of the Yasser Arafat Foundation, the Board of Trustees of the AlQuds Fund and Endowment, the Muslim World League, the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, the Islamic Supreme Committee, the Board of Trustees of Palestine Ahliya University, and the Jerusalem Jerusalem Waqf and Islamic Affairs Council, as well as the General Supervisor of Al-Israa magazine issued by the General Administration of Public Relations and Media at the Palestinian Dar al-Ifta. He is also a member of the General Secretariat of the Popular National Conference for Jerusalem and the Muslim President of the Islamic-Christian Commission.
