Sheikh Ekrima Sabri
Sheikh Ekrima Sabri was born in the city of Qalqilya in 1939. He earned a PhD in Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) from Al-Azhar University in Egypt in 2001. Throughout his career, he has held numerous positions including Director of Preaching and Guidance in the West Bank, Director of the College of Islamic Sciences in Abu Dis, and Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories. He founded the Association of Scholars and Preachers in Palestine in 1992, and served as its head and as the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Fatwa in Palestine. He is also Al-Aqsa Mosque Preacher, a founding member of the World Islamic Mosques Conference Association in Mecca, a member of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) in Jeddah, affiliated with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and a founding member of the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA). In 1998, he was elected as the President of the Islamic Supreme Committee in Jerusalem.
