Indonesia's Minister of Religious Affairs


His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Lukman Hakim Saifuddin is an Indonesian politician who served as the Minister of Religious Affairs from 2014 to 2019. His career has included various significant roles such as the Vice Secretary of the Central Executive Board of the Nahdlatul Ulama from 1985 to 1988. He also served in the Nahdlatul Ulama Research and Development Center (Lakpesdam) as Deputy Secretary, then Head of the General Administration, until he became the Chairman of the Governing Body from 1996 to 1999. At the age of 35 in 1997, he was elected as a member of the People's Representative Council and was re-elected in 1999, 2004, and 2009, later serving as the Vice President of the People's Consultative Assembly.
