He graduated from Kasr El Aini Faculty of Medicine in 1974 and obtained a postgraduate diploma in tropical medicine, becoming a fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine in the UK. He furthered his studies in internal medicine and gastrointestinal endoscopy at the Royal College of Postgraduate Studies in London and studied hospital administration in Los Angeles, California, USA. 

He served as the director of Hermel Memorial Hospital in Menoufia, affiliated with the Episcopal Church, for 20 years starting in 1980. He also pursued theological studies at Moore University in Sydney, Australia, before his ordination. In 2000, he was ordained as Bishop of the Diocese of Egypt, North Africa, and the Horn of Africa. From 2007 to 2017, he served as the Archbishop of the Jerusalem and Middle East Region and was elected President of the Episcopal Churches Association in the Southern Hemisphere in 2012.

He became a member of the Egyptian Family House and the Misr El Kheir Foundation. Since 2020, he has been installed as the Archbishop of the Alexandria Region.
