He was ordained as a deacon and priest in 1985, serving simultaneously as Chancellor of the Orthodox Metropolis of Belgium and Dean of the Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Brussels. He was appointed as the representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the Church and Society Committee of the Conference of European Churches (CEC) and, in 1995, became Director of the Liaison Office of the Orthodox Church with the European Union, a position he continues to hold.

In 1996, he was elected Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolis of the Benelux with the title of Bishop of the Territory. In 2001, he was entrusted by the Ecumenical Patriarchate with the responsibilities of world interreligious dialogue with monotheistic religions, and in 2003, he was elected Metropolitan of the Holy Metropolis of France. Over the past 14 years, as President of the Orthodox Episcopal Assembly of France, he has actively promoted dialogue and cooperation among Orthodox Christians and followers of other religions.

In 2021, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate unanimously elected him as Archbishop of the Council of Chalcedon. He is also the co-president of the Council of Christian Churches of France and the World Conference of Religions for Peace (WCRP). Since 2003, he has been a member of the Conference of European Churches and, since 2012, a board member of the Centre for International Dialogue.

For his efforts representing the Ecumenical Patriarchate to other religions and the European Union, he has been awarded France's *Legion of Honour* and numerous other Church and State decorations.
