Former Minister of Awqaf in the Arab Republic of Egypt
Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Hamdi Zakzouk
Professor Dr. Mahmoud Hamdi Zakzouk earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Munich in 1968 and supervised over 60 doctoral and master's theses at Al-Azhar University. He progressed through various positions until he was appointed Minister of Awqaf in January 1996, a role he held until January 2011. His tenure was marked by significant advancements in serving Islam and Muslims. Prof. Dr. Zakzouk contributed intellectually to international conferences worldwide and authored dozens of publications and research papers on ‘Aqeedah (Islamic theology), philosophy, enlightenment, civilization, and ethics. He held numerous memberships in academic and cultural institutions and was one of the founding members of the Muslim Council of Elders established in 2014. He passed away in April 2020.
