Strong Cooperation between the Muslim Council of Elders and the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation
Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders meets Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation to enhance mutual cooperation in promoting and strengthening the values of dialogue and coexistence
The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam has met His Eminence Shaykh Rawil Ğaynetdin, Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Council of Muftis, during his visit to the Russian Federation. During the meeting, the pair discussed ways to enhance mutual cooperation.
The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders emphasized that the Council, through its pioneering initiatives, seeks to promote and strengthen a culture of tolerance, peace, and constructive dialogue between different civilizations and cultures. He highlighted the importance of creating common spaces for cooperation between religious leaders and figures, particularly in reinforcing intra-Islamic dialogue. Judge Abdelsalam expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Russia in promoting diversity, pluralism, and respect for others, especially in a country like Russia, which is home to various religions and sects.
For his part, His Eminence Shaykh Rawil Ğaynetdin expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, in strengthening fraternity among peoples based on peace, dialogue, tolerance, coexistence, and mutual respect. He also praised the United Arab Emirates for promoting peace and coexistence among different religions and cultures, and highlighted the significance of the Document on Human Fraternity, co-signed by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and His Holiness Pope Francis, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. Shaykh Ğaynetdin noted that the document represents a significant milestone in enhancing interfaith dialogue and serves as a fundamental reference for peaceful coexistence and human fraternity.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to intensify mutual cooperation, affirming that the coming period would see several joint initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening the role of religions in addressing global challenges and involving young people in promoting a culture of dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
