Religious Thought and Contemporary Issues

The book Religious Thought and Contemporary Issues by the late Dr. Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders, and former Egyptian Minister of Religious Endowments, aims to draw attention to the need for a critical re-evaluation of the current conditions affecting the Muslim Ummah at various levels, particularly in the realm of religious thought. This work seeks to reignite awareness of the civilizational responsibility to help the Muslim community emerge from its prolonged civilizational crisis. The book is structured in the form of an introduction and five chapters: The first chapter discusses ‘Religious Thought and the Absent Truths’, the second chapter explores ‘The Human Intellect and its Role in Civilizational Progress’, the third chapter addresses ‘Contemporary Issues in the Light of Islamic Teachings’, the fourth chapter is titled ‘Islam, the West, and Dialogue Issues’, and the final chapter, ‘A Dialogue with the Distant Past’.
