Dr. Amr El-Shobaki
He holds a BA in Political Science from Cairo University (1984), an MA in Political Science from the Institute of Political Studies in Aix-en-Provence, France (1993), and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Paris 1 Sorbonne, France (2001). He is a researcher specializing in political systems, political Islam movements, and combating extremism, with expertise in Turkish politics, European Islam, and Arab-European relations. He has published numerous books and research papers in Arabic, French, and English on political reform.
He is a former independent member of the Egyptian Parliament, serving in 2011 and 2015 by virtue of the Court of Cassation's decision. He was also a member of the Committee of Fifty, which drafted the Egyptian Constitution in 2014, and served on the Executive Council (2005-2011) of the Mediterranean Research Network *EurMeSco*, which encompasses 106 think tanks and research centers.
He is a columnist for *Al-Masry Al-Youm* and has written for *Al-Ahram*, *Al-Hayat*, *Asharq Al-Awsat*, *Al-Khaleej*, *Al-Bayan*, and French newspapers like *Le Figaro* and *Le Point*. He has participated in hundreds of international conferences across Arab and European countries and the United States and has been featured in numerous interviews with both Arab and foreign media outlets.
