Former Grand Mufti of the Republic of Tunisia
His Eminence Dr. Othman Battikh
Born in Tunisia in 1941, he served as the Mufti of the Tunisian Republic from 2009 to 2013 and again from 2016 to 2022. He was also the Minister of Religious Affairs in 2015. Throughout his career, he held various positions, including Judge at the Court of First Instance in Tunis from 1968 to 1971, and Member of the Supreme Islamic Council from 1987 to 2010. From 2005, he worked as an Attaché to the Presidency of the Republic, overseeing the Department of Religious Affairs for five years. He passed away in October 2022.
