His Excellency Dr. Tarek Mitri
His Excellency Dr. Tarek Mitri earned his PhD in Political Science from Paris Nanterre University (formerly Paris X University) after studying Science and Philosophy at the American University of Beirut (AUB). He is the Director of the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the AUB. Dr. Mitri served as the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Libya from 2012 to 2014 and was a minister in four successive Lebanese governments between 2005 and 2011, holding portfolios including Minister of Environment, Administrative Reform, Culture, Information, and acting as Foreign Minister. He chairs the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Palestine Studies and the supervisory committee of the Nicolas Ibrahim Sursock Museum. He is also a member of the Strategic Council of Saint Joseph University and the Board of Directors of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies.
