His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdullah Nassif


His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Nasseef was born in Jeddah in 1939 (1358 AH). He completed his early education there and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from King Saud University in 1964 (1384 AH). He later obtained a PhD in Geology from the University of Leeds in the UK in 1971 (1391 AH). Dr. Nasseef is a distinguished geologist and a fellow of both the Geological Society of London and the Geological Society of America.

Throughout his career, Dr. Nasseef has held numerous prestigious positions, including as a professor at Riyadh University (now King Saud University) in 1971, Head of the Geology Department at King Abdulaziz University in 1973, Secretary-General and Vice President of King Abdulaziz University (1973–1980), and President of the university in 1980. He also served as Vice President of the Saudi National Dialogue Committee and Secretary-General of the Muslim World League in 1983, Deputy Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council in 1993, and President of the International Islamic Relief Organization in 2000. In addition, he has served as President of the Islamic World Conference, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Council for Da'wah and Relief, President of the International Union of Muslim Scouts, and as a member of the Executive Council of the World Muslim Congress. He also holds the position of Vice President of the Board of the Qur'an Memorization Society in Makkah. Dr. Nasseef has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the King Faisal International Prize for the category ‘Service to Islam’ in 1991 (1411 AH) and the King Abdulaziz Order of the First Class in 2003 (1424 AH).
